Kia likes keeping car enthusiasts and its Kia dealer in Bismarck and elsewhere in the United States on the edge of their seats with teaser trailers for one of its new car models, which is also slated to be the fastest Kia ever built! So far, Kia has released two teaser trailers of the new concept car on its website specifically created to generate excitement about the new design.

Kia has not officially released much information about the vehicle, what type of engine it has, its drive train, or other such features. However, speculation on the concept vehicle points to the Kia GT design, first unveiled as a future vehicle concept model back during the 2011 auto shows, with some major updates.

During one of the teaser trailers, the image of the vehicle itself is obscured throughout most of the videos, making it almost impossible to get a decent glimpse of the vehicle. There is one image in the second video that shows a hatchback sport design. Kia promises a third teaser trailer with more detail, slated to be released prior to the official unveiling of the vehicle at the Detroit Auto Show on January 8, 2017, at 6 p.m.

In the teaser videos, the speedometer shows the car accelerating at speeds from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in 5.1 seconds. During the first teaser video, one flash of a segment shows the reaching a speed of 241 km/h (150 mph). The first video was shot in Germany at the Nurburgring test track, and the second video was shot at the car manufacturer’s Namyang test track it also shares with Hyundai.

The new vehicle is expected to further enhance the upscale lineup of premium vehicles for people shopping for higher-end vehicles that boast luxury and comfort, and which are packed full of technological equipment features. Generating excitement about a new car model release or enhancements about a new generation release is nothing new for Kia. Current models that have been enhanced in recent years to offer options in the premium market include the Kia Optima and the Kia Sportage.

Since Hyundai and Kia are manufactured by the same company, it is anticipated the new Kia GT will have a similar engine design currently found in the Genesis G80 Sport model. In addition, some auto enthusiasts are speculating the vehicle will have a pricing point and entry position above the current Kia Optima lineup here in the United States. Beyond that, we are left to ponder exactly what the final design will look like, actual confirmation of the engine, and more.
