People who are shopping for a new car usually want to compare a few similar models to see not just what the best deal is, but which car has had the most improvements in the last year. After all, with technology improving so quickly, it’s always best to get the most up-to-date version whenever shopping for a new car. Car dealerships in Bismarck, ND have done the work for you, this year, by comparing the 2016 Kia Optima with the 2016 Honda Accord. What they found wasn’t all that surprising.

2016 Kia Optima

General Comparison

Generally speaking, there aren’t many changes to compare. While Kia made quite a few upgrades to make driving easier and safer, Honda didn’t make any upgrades when it came to the technology inside the Accord, and not much on the outside. In fact, the only thing that Honda upgraded was the front bumper on the 2016 Accord.

Comparing the Numbers

Starting with the purchase price, it’s time to compare numbers among these two popular sedans. The MSRP alone isn’t a huge difference, but when you consider all of the advances Kia has made, the numbers are a bit startling. The Kia MSRP is $21,840, while Honda is a little more expensive, at $25, 480. There is a huge difference in the warranties, though, with Kia offering a 60 month/60,000 mile warranty and Honda offering a 36 month/36,000 mile warranty. When it comes to gas mileage, Kia still comes out ahead with 24 mpg city and 35 mpg highway, while the Accord runs at 23 mpg city and 34 mpg highway.

What’s Changed?

As mentioned earlier, the Honda Accord didn’t make adjustments to anything but the front bumper. Maybe they felt everything was good as-is, but a new year brought better technology, so it’s hard to believe the Accord couldn’t use an upgrade. Kia drivers will find multiple new safety features, as well as advances in media playback.

Media options for the Kia now include Apple CarPlay, as well as Android Auto, making integration between media devices and the vehicle almost seamless. Parking is easier and safer with rear parking assist, and front collision warning helps prevent accidents, even when the object is lower than what the driver can easily see. Autonomous emergency braking and rear cross traffic alert assist the driver in responding to unforeseen events. Lane departure warning and advanced smart cruise control make interstate travel much easier to manage, while the 360 degree surround view monitor offers a whole new level of safety for the driver (and passengers), whether the car is in motion or not.

The 2016 Kia Optima makes it clear that you don’t have to sacrifice safety for fun. Kia looks like they are stepping up the standards in driving safety while still making drive time pleasurable. Mandan auto dealers aren’t surprised by the effort that Kia has put in, and are even more impressed to see that this model is still set at an affordable price with a fantastic warranty package that says something about the faith Kia has in their latest model.
